Use this time to finish writing your paper and make final preparations for your presentation. You will also need to plan what you will wear to dress like your character.
When writing your paper be sure that you are not copying and pasting information from the Internet or any of your other sources. It is important that you write information in your own words. You can have quotes but you will then need to discuss the quote in your own words.
Your speech will need to be three to five minutes long and cover information about your chosen person. View the rubric below to see how you will be graded on your speech.
I am excited to see your presentation. Please set up a time to give me your presentation by using the help note on your OW project page. You will present your presentation to me via Skype. If you do not have a
Skype account I will allow you to use a guest account that I have created.
For this project I need you to send me a copy of your finished research paper with a work cited page at the end. Please use a word processor (Word on PC / Pages on Mac / Document on Google Drive) to write your paper. If you have questions or need help feel free to send help notes or Skype.

Tips for a Successful Speech
- Have a plan: If you have a plan, it will keep you from getting nervous and babbling or freezing up. Know what you ought to be saying every second of the time you're given.
- Practice: Practice your speech at least three times. Make sure you do it once in front of the mirror and at least once in front of an audience. This gives you a chance to correct any problems that you have.
- When you get up to give your speech, stand tall and try not to fidget. Make sure you are dressed professionally, but comfortably. It makes a bad impression if you can't walk in your shoes or spend time fiddling with your shirt collar. Good posture goes a long way, even if you're nervous.
- Make sure you are speaking loudly enough. Don't shout, but make sure that the people in the back are able to hear.
- Avoid space-fillers. Concentrate on not using them and you won't.
- Smile and make eye-contact. Don't look as if you'd rather be someplace else. Don't just read from a paper. Start with a smile when you introduce yourself. Then be sure to make eye contact occasionally.
- Thank your audience. Offer them a chance to ask questions. Be sure that the last thing that you say is "thank-you."
